Is there an equipment through which I could make a conference call, combining a VOIP line and a land line?

Question by Mary Ann: Is there an equipment through which I could make a conference call, combining a VOIP line and a land line?
I want to make a three way call using a VOIP service and a land line at the same time. Let’s say, I have a Vonage account and a line land; I want to use the VOIP signal to commute the land line with another land line, Thanks in advance for your answers.

Try connecting the phone lines with 2 .01 microfarad capacitors . 1 in each wire to provide audio isolation & prevent dc shorts.

Is there a box you can buy that plugs into your phone line and you could program to selectively screen calls?

Question by sandiegojoe420: Is there a box you can buy that plugs into your phone line and you could program to selectively screen calls?
I have not been able to find anything like this for the average consumer. I have seen high end PBX systems that will do it, but nothing small, simple and cheap. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Comcast lets you program numbers that you want to turn away and it gives them a prompt saying the number you are calling is not accepting calls at this time.

Q&A: Is there any way of using VoIP without computer – eg through a router’s ethernet port?

Question by dezza: Is there any way of using VoIP without computer – eg through a router’s ethernet port?
I’d like to use a VoIP service, but would prefer not to have to leave the computer on all day.
Is there any way I can avoid using a PC to make and receive calls – are there any adaptors that can be plugged straight into an ethernet router?

Thanks in advance.

We have voip and the phone (a standard phone, not a voip phone) plugs straight into the router. It works regardless of whether the computer is on or off.

You can also use a VOIP adapter [its a small box like a modem], which plugs into your modem (phone plugs into the adapter)

All you need for VOIP is a VOIP router OR a VOIP adapter to plug into your modem, and a broadband connection. The computer is not necessary.

are there any fax machines that will work with voice over IP?

Any fax machine works with VOIP. You can even use a free fax via email from jfax or efax. I have VOIP using Skype and Meritcall at meritcall.com and I have a fax machine that I use to fax people with and I use Meritcall. But to receive, I use my jfax free version and I print them myself.

It’s hard to use Skype with fax machine because you have to get a Port Converter for Skype. Which means you have to buy a hardware that will enable your usb to phone line. Which cost about $ 30. Search for USB Skype in Google or Yahoo.

I bought my fax machine in ’89, and it’s still being used, then migrated to VOIP 4 years ago, and it still works.
